Biome

Ecology: the study of interactions that occur among organisms and their environment

Biome: a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat

Climatic Conditions                                                                Biome Description

The savanna has tropical wet and dry climates and it's hot year round. It is also very hot there but there is a season of heavy rain (20-50in per year). After the rain season, there are long seasons of drought which can cause fires. However, if the rain is well distributed then areas can become tropical forests.

A savanna is a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees. The climax communities vegetation is characterized by a continuous cover of perennial grasses (3-6ft tall). Because of high evaporation rates and drought, not a lot of water is in the savanna. Usually, animals get water from plants they eat who can hold it for long periods of time.
